At Redcastle Junior there was a huge interest with over 60 pupils from the school attended throughout the day. BACC’s mobile classroom was set up in the schools playground and practical sessions on knot trying, using a discorger along with a host of other angling skills. A casting competition was set up using a light ledger weight. A number of targets using buckets placed around the playground were set up to cast into. Along side this, a pole dropper competition was also going on, where pellets had to be carefully dropped into buckets placed at variable distances. Both activities had queues of interest. The Environment agency provide BACC with, going fishing booklets, key rings, pens and animal masks, all of which were appreciated by the youngsters. A survey was also carried out amongst the children to find out what level of knowledge they had in angling and to see if they would be interested in attending a coaching day at a lake. coaching days with the school in September to reward good behaviour and attendance of pupils.
