Description:

Rogers Pond

The water is situated between the River Ure and the racecourse at Ripon. It is wonderfully quiet and in a position where generally you will always get a ripple to assist with the fishing. By having a strict policy on numbers fishing and the tickets having to be bought previously ensures that it is never overcrowded.

The only facility to speak of is the car park, apart from that there is nothing. It is a very natural water and as such the waters do not help greatly for the angler with disabilities.

In total you have 2 acres to fish here in a single water with depths that average at 6 ft, but there are a couple of places that drop down to 9 ft and 8 ft on the bank nearest the parking. The far bays offer just under 7 ft of water. The water does suffer or benefit (depending on your view) with weed growth.

The weed can be perfect for the early tench, which are a very deep brown in colour and have been caught over the last year to 5lb, but with a promise of going much larger. There is a good head of bream, with better fish to 7lb, averaging 3lb and thousands of skimmers to 8oz. Being close to the Ure there are also a lot of eels present in the water. With fish caught regular at up to 5lb. Small chub are also present although not that many, with better fish at just over a 1lb. Perch run to 3lb, but average 6oz. Roach and rudd are also present, although quite small with a fish of a pound exceptional, 5 oz average. If you really set your stall out here then one of the carp present to 17lb may fall your way, there are not many of them present though, very big baits are the way to go here. Crucians are present but in small numbers.
