540 views14th July 2010 - Sixteen year old Nick Richards, from Camberley, Surrey, was fishing for carp in a lake in Poole, Dorset, when he noticed a flash of orange under the water. He positioned his rod and bread bait in its direction and seconds later he began reeling in the mystery fish, which turned out to be a Goldfish weighing 5lbs. It is difficult to confirm that it is the biggest ever caught in the UK, because it is an ornamental fish and the record won't be recognised by the British Records Fish Committee. But still a very nice fish to catch.

18:30pm Monday the 23rd of September 2013536 viewsHere is a picture of Brian Chandler with the 19lb Common Carp that he caught at his local waters, Hendre Lake Park, St Mellons, Cardiff, Wales.
It was caught using surface fishing methods, with a 15lb main line an inline bubble float leading to an approximately 4ft hook length, tipped with a size 10 hook and a hair rig. Using a new grange 10mm pop up, with a scattering of dog mixers as a free offering to entice them in. It was the second of two fish that I caught that day, the first one being another common about 8lb or 9lb
