Description: The name 'Polhilsa' has the meaning of rising springs and this is echoed by the fishing lakes situated at the farm. Both lakes have been constructed and are fed solely by rising spring waters. Both lakes are stocked with a mixture of coarse fish.

The first lake was constructed in 1995 and is the smallest at approximately 1.5 acres, while the larger lake was constructed in 1999 and covers approximately 3 acres.

Rules: Polhilsa Fishery Rules

Fishing equipment must be dry before fishing.

Leave your nets, mats and slings at home! These are all provided.

Please take all litter back to the holiday cottages.

Respect other anglers, the surroundings and the fish.

Keep noise and disturbance to a minimum.

No excessive alcohol.

Keep all gates shut at all times.

No fish to be removed from the site or moved between lakes.

Children to be supervised at all times whilst near the lakes/fishing.



Top Lake

Use nets and mats provided, located next to the fence on the entrance to the lake.

No keep nets.

Barbless hooks only whilst coarse fishing.

Trout fishing only by prior arrangement.



Syndicate Lake (Bottom) Booking only.

Experienced anglers only.

Only 1 swim to be occupied per day, with 2 rods or less.

(1 swim, 1 angler, 2 rods or 1 swim, 2 anglers, 1 rod each).

Carry the pass at all times, return at the end of the day.

Use nets, mats and slings provided, located in metal shed (leave yours at home).

Record any captures in catch report book.

Micro Barb hooks only.

No fixed lead set ups.

Minimum 12lb mainline.

No braided mainline.

No leadcore leaders.

Well behaved dogs under control within your swim are welcome.

Bait boats are allowed but must be used with respect towards other syndicate members.

No retaining of fish, fish to be unhooked, weighed and photographed safely and quickly.

Carp care to be carried at all times and used to treat hook holds and marks.

Fish safety and welfare is of utmost importance.

Fish from the swims only.

Use the boat only to land a fish if it becomes snagged or weeded up.

Wear the life jacket provided when out in the boat, use the boat at your own risk.

Please respect other syndicate anglers on the lake at all times.
