Description: Ulverston Angling Association: Bigland Exchange Ticket.

Above the Leven Valley near Backbarrow set in the cumbrian fells lies Bigland Tarn a 16 acre trout fishery.

Bigland is regularly stocked with rainbows into double figures and fishes well all year. The lake is 1½ miles up a lane off the A590 road near Backbarrow. The lake is fairly shallow with the deepest area at the dam. There are two islands with access plus a long promontory and a fishing lodge.

Rules:

This Fishery is open to UAA Members. Anglers are warned that they fish at their own risk. No liability whatsoever can be accepted for any loss, damage or injury to any permit holder or third party or property however sustained. In order to comply with the terms and conditions of the Association's insurances, anglers must immediately report to the secretary every incident which could result in a claim against themselves or the Association.

There is a limit of TWO anglers on the water during any one day. Tickets are available seven days per week, from 1st October through to 31st December. Reservations must be made by phoning Alan Dickson at "Rods and Sods" on 01229 582367, who will maintain a record. A "Day"or "Evening" ticket is available. Members must state which type of ticket they require at the time of reservation.

Fishing is by CATCH AND RELEASE only and is in accordance with Fishery Rules. "Sunset" is as displayed at the Fishery. Members failing to comply with the time limits or any other Fishery Rules will forfeit the right to use the ticket and be subject to disciplinary action under UAA Rules and could forfeit their membership.

Anglers must sign onto the fishery in the book provided by entering name, date, time, and U.A.A. and type of ticket (Day or Evening) in the ticket column (Do not use the envelopes). Anglers must fill in the catch return on finishing fishing, and comply with the Fishery Rules. The book can be found in the Fishing lodge.

Anglers must be in possession of a current UAA membership permit and shall produce it upon request to any authorised official.

All anglers (except juniors under age twelve) must be in possession of a current Environment Agency rod licence and shall at all times strictly comply with the fishery bye-laws of that Agency.
