Description: Welcome to Castle Fisheries, in the western Lake District. We offer fishing on the River Derwent, one of the finest salmon and sea trout rivers in the north of England. Cockermouth, a beautiful town in the western Lake District, makes an excellent base, with many good hotels, restaurants and shops.

The River Derwent rises beneath Scafell Pike, flows through Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake and then passes through the rolling countryside of the Derwent valley before entering the Irish Sea at Workington. It is an intimate fast flowing river with attractive pools and a particularly beautiful setting. 8 fishing huts are provided along the 12 miles of river, covering our ten beats and 37 pools. Friendly and experienced ghillies are available to assist, if required.
