Description: River Derwent
The River Derwent is possibly the jewel in the crown of the "Pride of Derby" since it is the River that was the subject of the forming of the club. ( see - "About the Club" ).
The section of the river owned by the club runs from the Church Wilne / Great Wilne area to the rivers confluence into the River Trent. ( This section consists of the exclusive fishing rights on the Shardlow side of the River and on the opposite bank as designated and noted in the season ticket). This river is totally natural with fast shallow runs to slow deep areas mixed within yards of one another. The river has a quantity of Chub mixed with Roach, Perch, Bream and Dace. There are areas of the River where Barbel are frequently caught, with fish to 11 lb. not being uncommon and recently in 2013 a fish of 14lbs was caught.
Access to the River is via three points, two of which are located near to locked car parking areas. ( This River due to the more lengthy walks to some of the sections is not all suitable for disabled or infirm anglers. )
