Description: A pleasant, relaxing site next to the Calke Estate (National Trust) forming the South Derbyshire/Leicestershire border and within The National Forest. The site boasts a beautiful wildflower meadow, the remains of a 250 year old windmill, an arboretum 3 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (Springwood NR, Dimminsdale and Feeder Ponds) and picturesque surroundings. The site also has a sailing club and fishery.

Fishery Rules:

Fishing only from 1st June to 14th March inclusive, with 3 rods (NO FISHING PERIOD 14th MARCH - 1st JUNE)

a) NIGHT FISHING is allowed for club members only. When night fishing there is to be strictly no parking in the visitor centre carpark.

ALL NIGHT ANGLERS TO BE AWARE THAT NO VEHICULAR ACCESS IS PERMITTED BETWEEN 10PM and 6AM.

Normal Access/Egress only between the hours of 6am to 1 hour after sunset.

There is approx. 2.2km of bank fishing, but the sailing club frontage is EXCLUDED.

b) PARKING is available at the Visitors Centre (signposted) and Derby Hills Farm (down Broadstone Lane - off the Melbourne to Ticknall Road at the Ticknall end).

Members only (not day tickets) parking is also allowed behind the sailing club. Members will need a club key. If the sailing club gate is open, leave it open, otherwise lock it.

ANGLERS DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY PARKING.

c)WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD AND DROP TACKLE OFF OR USE THE SAILING CLUBS CAR PARK.

On open days, the sailing club may use our car park.

d) Other extra general rules.

1. No reserving of pegs.

2. No live-baiting.

3. No boats of any sort or ballooning.

e) SEVERN TRENT WATER, the lessor, wishes to provide services to the general public, and we have to offer day tickets. There is no night fishing for day ticket anglers.

f) NO MAINTENANCE is allowed during the close season, but pegs will need to be maintained.

g) MATCHES will be allowed, and prior notification will be given where possible, via notice boards. We have to give rangers 2 weeks prior notice of any match involving 50 anglers or more.

h) STRICTLY NO LITTER.

i) NO FIRES INCLUDING ANY BBQ's

j) JUNIOR MEMBERS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT

k) NO CONFRONTATION WITH SAILING CLUB MEMBERS AS WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL TO THEM FOR ASSISTING WITH THE EXTRA PARKING AND NIGHT FISHING.
