Description: Abbrook Pond is a mature, stream fed, former clay pit of nearly 3 acres in size. Dating back to the 1930s it is one of the oldest fishing lakes in the county. Divided in to two main areas by a bridge, the main body of water varies in depth from 2ft to 15ft in places and has a host of features including lily pads, reeds, bars, plateaus and silt areas. The back area of the lake is more uniform, it averages 2-3ft and is an ideal stalking area.
Due to being stream fed with inlets and outlets the water level tends to stay the same and provides a healthy ecosystem for the fish. The lake is very picturesque during the spring and summer when the lilies are abundant, with a host of wildlife present including kingfishers, birds of prey and even deer!
The lake is well maintained by a dedicated team of bailiffs. In recent years they have installed gravel paths, solid swims, a secure gate/fence and maintain a regular stocking programme.
