This lake is the perfect choice if you want a productive and fun days fishing, with a really good chance of catching both carp and catfish.

CURRENT RECORDS

22lb 8oz Common caught by John Bellinger, August 2021. 40lb Catfish caught by Daniel Harman-Wilson, August 2020.

It is a natural lake with a 12 ft deep hole in the middle with a gravel bed, with depths of 8ft around the hole and then through to 1 to 2 ft by the edges. The bank is a combination of silt and stony areas. It has a reed surround and is home to 12 spacious jetties. You can park right next to some of these jetties which makes it easy to get your equipment out, and perfect for any of our disabled anglers.

We ask that you use a 10lb Minimum breaking strain line and minimum 42? landing net and 110x70cm padded unhooking mat on this carp and catfish pleasure lake. Please check out the rules and regulations' page for a full list.

TIPS!

It is hard to recommend a particular fishing tactic as it is very heavily stocked and there are likely to be fish where-ever you cast. We recommend size 4-6 hooks. As far as bait goes, Robin Red pellets always do well on this lake, coupled with either a PVA bag mixed with micro pellets, or over a spod mixture. Other popular baits include any strong scented boilies, or pink or yellow pop ups. The catfish respond well to Halibut pellets and luncheon meat but will take most baits. Also remember that the lakes are fished regularly and the angler before you may have put bait in an area, so look for signs of feeding fish in your swim before you start baiting up an area that you've chosen; you could be competing with existing bait!

If you aren't catching on this lake, it is likely you are doing something wrong, especially if others around you are catching! Please don't be afraid to check in with the bailiff who will be able to advise on any changes you may want to make.
