The Mill here at the farm is mentioned in the Doomsday Book and has for many years hosted different businesses with-in its acres. Today sees a modern Trout Farm that supplies Table Trout around the country and a Trout Fishery for Fly anglers. Withern Mill Trout Fishery reflects a vision shared by two fishermen that defies preconceptions and transforms the Anglers experience. The delightful dilemma begins the moment you set foot on the fishery. Five intelligently designed lakes all freshly fed from the Great River Eau offer the experienced and the leisure Angler a day of fulfilment all year round.

Fishery Rules:

1. All persons visiting the fishery do so at their own risk. Withern Mill Trout farm accept no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to persons or property, however caused.

2.Anglers Must posses a current [Enviromental Agency Rod Licence] as well as a permit to fish these waters.

3. A valid fishing permit must be filled in with your name Before fishing can commence. Details of ALL fish caught, including those returned, must be entered at the end of your day. This includes nil returns.

4.All fishing must be carried out on single Barbless hooks [conventional single hooks are acceptable with Barbs removed. Double, Treble, Multi Hooked Flies, Flicker spoons ans propeller flies are not allowed. Buoyant patterns such as Boobies and Floating Fry may be used on a sinking line for fish intending to keep, They may not be used on a catch and release permit.

5.A maximum of three rods per Angler is allowed to be carried But only one Rod may be used at a time. All tackle must be taken with you when moving pegs.

6. Fishing is by FLY only.

7.All fish caught must be landed with a landing net, fish to be kept must be dispatched quickly, fish returned should be handled gently [preferable while still in the water] Any fish showing signs of bleeding or stress must be killed and counted as part of the limit. Catch and release Anglers are asked to hand in any fish to Fishery Staff on departure.

8.Anglers are expected to behave in a polite and courteous manner at all times. Please deposit all litter and discarded leaders in the bins provided. You are not allowed to feed local wildlife of any description this is their home to so please respect it.

9.Any Angler found fishing outside the permitted hours, taking more fish than their current permit, or taking fish by illegal methods will be prosecuted.

10.The Management and Officials of Withern Mill Trout Fishery reserve the right to examine any equipment, bag, clothing or vehicle of any one visiting the Fishery.

11.The Management reserve the right to expel or refuse admission to any persons as and when they deem it necessary.

ANYONE FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE FISHERY RULES WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE FISHERY.
