Description: A historic and well regarded park lake situated in the southeast region of London.
Constructed in 1982 Burgess Park soon became a haven for wildlife and fishing began several years later in 1985. The Burgess Park Angling Club cares for the lake. As you walk around the lake there are dedicated fishing 'swims', which support a thriving fishing scene, with various types of fish including carp, tench, bream and various silver species! We have a member's lake and a day ticket lake if we are overly busy on the day ticket lake we have the option to fit you on our member's lake. There is a small shop which sells tea, coffee, cold drinks and a small variety of snacks, we also stock bait, an array of terminal tackle, clothing and much more to come. Current stock levels are very good with carp to 37lb Catfish to 76lb tench rudd, roach, and eels. Pike and perch are also to be stocked later this year. |

Rules: General Fishery Rules: Our lakes are strictly catch and release. Removal of any of our fish will be treated as a theft and we will prosecute to the highest strength. Hook sizes 2 to 10 must be micro-barbed, size 12 or smaller, or can be barbless. Bent hook rigs and Fixed lead setups are banned. The lead must be able to fall off the rig in the case of a snap-off. Only three rods may be in use at a time with the accompanying 3 rod license, although extra rods may be assembled on the bank. A marker and spod rod are allowed, if doubled up in a swim then only two rods per person to be used. Hooks sizes 2 to 10 must be micro barbed. Size 12 or smaller must be barbless. Each rod should be set up with a Single hook. Double and triple hook setups will incur an immediate suspension. All anglers must be in possession of a landing net and unhooking mat of a size appropriate for the safe landing and unhooking of said fish. Any fish caught over 30LB we ask to be reported to the bailiff so we can check on the progress and weights of the fish. Bait Boats are permitted with responsibility, do not use the boat where you cannot physically cast (inside islands and under sanctuaries). Night Fishing is only permitted for club members. All day ticket anglers must be packed up by dusk and arrive no earlier than dawn. 8am until 8pm summer hours, 8 until 6 winter hours. Members are allowed to guest 1 angler for night fishing as long as they are on the same swim as them. Members doing overnight sessions are limited to 72 hours in a single swim. This is to prevent swim sharing and allowing others to get a chance in certain swims. fishing is only allowed with a suitable line strength being used. Anglers are reminded to exercise due diligence regarding the condition of the last 10 metres of line and remove any line showing signs of wear. We recommend a minimum line strength of 12lb for Carp fishing and a minimum of 5lb for silver fish hooklinks can be lighter breaking strain. All fish are to be returned as soon as practically possible, in the best possible condition. Prepare your Landing Mat and cradle, camera and water bucket before taking out your catch. Using a retainer sling to take the fish out of the water. DO NOT ROLL LINE UP INSIDE OF YOUR NET this can and will tear hooks out of the fishes mouth, remove the hook in the net or slacken off a few metres of line into the net before sliding your carp into a sling to raise it out. If you are uncomfortable doing this, then please ask for assistance from any neighbouring anglers. Please return the bird to the lake unharmed. If you are new to carp fishing and unsure of how best to set up or assemble your rigs, then please ask for advice from your fellow and or neighbouring anglers. We are a friendly club, and most anglers will be only too happy to offer advice. None of us want to see any 'death' rigs in use. Always feel free to ask a bailiff for tips and advice.
