Description: Fishing and sailing are the main recreational uses of the lake. South Norwood Lake and Grounds is a park of 11.5 hectares. The lake itself once served as a reservoir for the Croydon Canal. It is now used by local anglers, who fish for carp, bream and perch among others, and Croydon Sailing Club.

Fishing rules for South Norwood Lake

These rules apply to anyone wanting to fish at South Norwood Lake. They are local rules which will be enforced by the Councils Enforcement Team.

Any one breaking the rules will be asked to leave the site.

Repeat offenders will be banned from site.

Rules approved by the Environment Agency.

01. Fishermen need to have a valid rod licence and a day and season fishing ticket.

02. Fishing is permitted from dawn to dusk, no overnight stays, no tents.

03. Anyone fishing needs to be in possession of a landing net and mat.

04. Fishing permitted only from designated platforms.

05. 2 rods per licence holder only.

06. No keep nets.

07. No barbed hooks.

08. No tiger nuts or life baiting, maggot and worms permitted.

09. No bait boats.

10. Unused bait to be taken off site.

11. Respect other park users, dispose of your litter responsibly, keep the noise down, dont obstruct the pathways.

12. Any crayfish caught needs to be destroyed, returning them into the lake is a criminal offence.
