Description: Mill Dam might look like a small, egg-shaped lake at first glance but there are certainly a plethora of decent fishing spots near reeds, lily pads and simply in open water. There's a fairly overgrown island in the lake's centre which can get tricky when casting near it, but in terms of having something to aim for it's great.
One side of the lake's bank is fairly closer to the island (left-hand side on photo above), which seems much better for your typically 'smaller' species such as Roach, Rudd, Perch etc. Of course, that's not set in stone, there's nothing stopping you from spotting Tench bubbles, seeing a Bream skim off the surface or even a Carp leap out of the water, but anglers seem to land larger fish on the right-hand side where it's much deeper.
The bottom of the lake can contain a few snags but it's mostly an accumulation of rubbish, however the water itself is more or less weed free. Litter on the lake is an issue and arguably could be better maintained.
The lake's surroundings are, at large, sheltered by trees and there are a number of paths between the car park and the water. Also, there are several benches scattered around the grounds, all situated quite close to the lake.
If you're looking to fish in the evening it's worth noting that there is very little public lighting around the lake. While fishermen intending to fish overnight usually carry lights and appropriate gear anyway, it is definitely still worth a mention.
