Westerly Lake Fishery

This beautiful, natural looking lake was designed by the National Rivers Authority, and being spring-fed has superb water quality and an environment that is ideal for the large numbers of coarse fish that inhabit the lake. The lake is an outstanding silver fish fishery, and is stocked with roach, bream. tench, gudgeon, crucean carp, perch, and chub to over six pounds. There are large numbers of carp well into double figures, and both mirror and common carp to over twenty seven pounds have been caught, and also a grass carp of twenty two 1/2 pounds.

Westerly Lake Fishery Rules:

Anglers who are fishing for carp must have an unhooking mat and a large landing net. Fishing is from 7am until sunset, and day tickets are available from the Lodge after 8am. All anglers arriving after 8am must call at the Lodge first and purchase a day ticket before fishing. There are no matches on the lake, and the lake is open all year. Please note the minimum age on the fishery is 16.

Fishing is for over 16s only;

Fishing 7am to sunset, 9pm latest,

no night fishing;

Barbless hooks only;

No fixed rigs;

No braided hook links;

Boilies:-no more than 1kg per angler;

Fish must only be 'wet handled' no dry mats or towels.

Groundbait in feeders and pole cups only;

Catfood on hooks only;

No keepnets;

No fish to be taken away from the fishery;

Surplus bait must not be dumped in the lake.

No spodding,

No baitboats.

Surface fishing in moderation is allowed, but bread must not be used.
