Description: A1 Pits - South Muskham Fishery is a coarse fishing venue located in Nottinghamshire. The venue comprises six lakes, ranging in size and an exclusive scenic stretch of the River Trent. There is ample parking available.

Pit 1, the smallest lake, is the first you will meet. A mixed fishery, it is an ideal place to introduce beginners and your children to the pleasures of fishing. There are carp and pike to offer something for the budding specimen hunter.

Pit 2 was stocked with lots of small carp to 8 pounds to complement others to over twenty pounds, double figure pike, and quality roach.

Pit 3 was stocked with 500 carp which are now into double figures. There are also original fish to 30lb along with a good head of bream and pike.

Pit 4 is home to double figure tench and bream, along with carp to 35lb.

Pit 5 contains the largest carp (41lb) and pike (37lb) to come from the A1 Pits. A lot of pike were transferred to Pit 5 from Pit 6 when the largest lake was drained in the noughties.

Pit 6, The largest lake, provides a big challenge for the dedicated carp angler, fish to 40lbs reside here. Be warned though, you might find a gravel bar or two, but you won�t be able to cast to the far bank!

Site Rules:

Our rules exist to safeguard our fish stocks and ensure that you have a safe enjoyable visit to A1 Pits.

These rules are subject to change and most up to date rules can be found on the Catch Report Facebook page.

Please read these rules carefully before you fish, as failure to observe the rules or acting in any way, which interferes with others' enjoyment or use of the lakes, will result in the offender being immediately removed.

We do not allow the use of any bait boats or drones on the site.

There is no access to the fishery before the arrival of the bailiff, please refer to the fishery's opening and closing times. There is no fishing outside of the permitted times. The gates will be locked overnight with permitted Night Fishing only within those times.

Access is only permitted to the public areas, please do not trespass.

Access will only be permitted to those with a fishing license.

Children under 16 must be supervised at all times.

Fish only from the peg areas provided, please do not fish between pegs.

All nets must be dipped before starting to fish.

All fish must be returned to the water immediately, do not use keepnets or sacks to retain fish.

Anyone found killing fish and/or removing fish will prosecuted.

When returning fish to the water, you must use a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net regardless of the distance being carried.

Use only barbless hooks - barbed hooks are strictly banned.

All forms of fixed lead are banned - all leads must be free running.

Mobile telephone ringing tone volumes to be kept to minimum and ideally turned on to vibrate. That being said please do carry a charged mobile phone for emergencies.

You must be in possession of an unhooking mat for all forms of fishing.

All fish being photographed must be held over an unhooking mat at all times, photos should be taken kneeling down under no circumstances should you hold fish standing up.

During Night Fishing At least one proper night lantern for lighting the base area, and each angler must wear their own headlamp.

Fish must be weighed using a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net.

Particle baits are banned with the exception of sweet corn, hemp, carp pellet, the use of cat and dog food is not allowed.

No Wading, swim raking or swimming.

Take all litter, discarded line and unused bait home. Do not cut or otherwise damage bank and or vegetation.

Do not disturb wildlife, please advise a member of staff as soon as possible should any wildlife become hurt or injured, hooked or entangled with line, or if line becomes snagged on trees or bushes or on any underwater snag during your visit in order that this can be immediately removed.

No petrol or similar combustible fuels anywhere near the bank sides.

We do allow dogs onto the fishery, however, they must be kept on a lead at all times, you must clean up after them and they must not be noisy.

Do not light any fires and do not burn the grass when using any form of cooking equipment.

The use of BBQ's is only allowed under close supervision. They must be allowed to cool and you must take the remains home with you.

Toilets are available on the main entrance track, please use them.

Catch reports and photographs of any notable fish caught would be appreciated for our website and notice board.

The Bailiff is available on site and should you have any emergency please do contact him. Also please do notify him of any damage, anything you find unsafe or any accidents or incidents you may have.

Our Bailiff is vital to the running of the Fishery, please respect this, respect his wishes. No violence or verbal abuse will be tolerated

Rods are not to be left unattended at any time or for reason.

You will be asked to leave the fishery without refund and you will be banned if you break these rules.
