Description:
Nether Mill is a friendly, family-run fishery situated just off the Barnsley to Manchester road (A628), less than 7 miles from Barnsley, 12 miles from Sheffield, 11 miles from Huddersfield and 24 miles from Manchester. Turn off the A628 opposite the Nether Mill Coarse Fishery roadside sign, follow the signs through the farmyard and along a private road for 150 yards to park within a dozen yards or so of your peg.
Nether Mill Fishery was built ten years ago, covers nearly 2 acres and provides 32 pegs for anglers of all ages, interests and abilities.
The lake contains 3 purpose-built islands, so that each peg has a feature to fish to.
The lakes depth varies slightly between 4 ½ and 5 ½ feet and the bottom is clean. Over the last 10 years, the lake has grown to maturity: the margins and the islands are planted with a wide variety of plants (including giant South American rhubarb) to provide cover and spawning grounds for the fish and a beautiful location for you to fish in. The lake is fed by Scout Dike Beck, which ensures a constant flow of fresh water through the fishery and high oxygen levels even during the hottest summer weather.

Fishery Rules:
Fishing costs £5 per angler per day which is collected from you on your peg, and the lake is open from 7am 'til dusk. We have tried to keep rules to a minimum for your angling pleasure. All nets must be dipped in either the green or the red net dips on arrival.
Barbed hooks are forbidden, and all fish caught must be handled with care before being returned to the water: if you are fishing for carp, please bring an unhooking mat or cradle to protect the large specimens you catch.
We do not allow dogs at the lake or children under 8 years of age.
Anglers under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Nuts are not allowed, and bait must not be left on the banks when you leave: all litter must be taken away at the end of your days fishing.
|
Facilities:
The lake is served by a gravelled private road and two car parks and vehicles can be parked witin a dozen or so yards of your peg (though not on the grass verges, please), which is especially handy for the angler who has restricted mobility or a heavy trolley of tackle.
There is a gravelled path round the lake to make getting your kit to your peg as easy as possible. Grass verges are mown regularly to keep pegs open and easily accessible. There is a proper lavatory on the left as you arrive at the lake.
