Description: Carney Pools is managed by Edward Carney and his partner Hollie. The site bailiff is Mike Bibby.

There are two coarse fishing pools known as Damsel and Dragon Pool, both available for day tickets and match anglers. We have facilities for disabled anglers and welcome visitors of all ages and abilities.

Camping facilities include space for both tents and caravans as well as Bell 'Glamping' Tents/Pods to hire if you prefer a little luxury while staying with us.

Opening Times:

Site Opening and Closing Times:

We are open 5 days a week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays Site opens for 8 am

Site gates close at 4:30 pm promptly Please respect our opening and closing times for fishing. We do not allow early morning fishing before 8 am or extended fishing after closing time.

Day ticket anglers

Please pack up in good time as electric gates will close for 5 pm. If you do get locked in then you may be liable to a releasing fee of £30.00.

No day tickets are available after 7pm in summer opening hours.

Ticket Prices for 2024:

Day ticket - £10.00 per day per person (max two rods)

Concessions - (over 65), juniors (under 16 yrs) and Blue Badge holders - £9.00 per day per person (max two rods).

Please be aware that we do not do half day ticket prices, or fishing on an hourly rate. Ticket prices are the same throughout the day.

Please carry your current rod licence with you at all times - as you may be asked to produce it by the site bailiff, if asking for a concessionary ticket.

Carney pools reserve the right to amend the fishing rules at any time.

General Fishery Rules:

All anglers to hold a current Environment Agency Rod Licence and must produce it to anyone requesting to see it.

Landings nets provided; please bring your own handle.

STRICTLY FISHERY FEED PELLETS ONLY: (checks will be made).

All tickets MUST be purchased from the lodge before commencing fishing;

ONE spectator per angler (no groups of spectators permitted).

If tickets are not purchased prior to fishing then you will be charged an on the bank price.

Landing nets are STRCITLY allocated for each pool; obtain a new landing net if changing which pool you fish.

Maximum of two rods per person.

One ticket is for one person up to two rods NO SHARING.

Barbless hooks only

Maximum hook size of 10 (on both pools) N.B. Hook checks are made.

All rods to be attended at all times.

whilst a baited hook is in the water. DO NOT leave rods with baited hooks on the bank where ducks may eat the bait.

No surface fishing.

Keepnets in matches only.

No Braid of any kind.

The fishery insists that unhooking mats are used for all large carp and any photos.

Never handle fish with towels or cloths of any kind.

Please read all the fishery rules on the notice board upon arriving.

Please note all children under 16 years must have a responsible adult with them at all times with some angling knowledge.

No dogs around the pools - expect guide dogs.

Respect other anglers no loud music, BBQ's or alcohol on the bank.

All fish 4oz or above must be netted.

No fish to be out of the water for more than 2 minutes.

No left over bait to be thrown into the pools, please use bins provided.

Abuse to the fishery or site staff will no be tolerated and will result in a life time ban.



Bait Bans:

Trout pellets.

Nuts of any form.

Joker.

Tinned cat/dog food.

Floating baits of any kind.

Boilies, Luncheon meat or meat of any kind



Match Rules:

Keep Net Policy.

60lb net limit per keep net, 60 - 65lb is counted as 60lb, 65lb + net is disqualified.

No rocks or stones to be placed in the keep nets.

All club match deposits are nonrefundable if cancelled by the club.

Landing nets and keep nets are STRCITLY allocated for each pool.

No taking ANY OWN keepnets, stink bags or weigh bags onto or around the pools.

FISHERY NETS and WEIGHING EQUIPMENT ONLY STRICTLY FISHERY FEED PELLETS ONLY. (checks will be made).

Barbless hooks only to a maximum size of 10.

Fishery keep nets only (club organisers are held responsible for theft or damage or fishery nets. Please treat the nets as you would want someone to treat yours!)

Landing nets and keep nets are STRCITLY allocated for each pool.

No taking ANY OWN keepnets, stink bags or weigh bags onto or around the pools.

FISHERY NETS and WEIGHING EQUIPMENT ONLY No fishing any further than half way to the next angler.

Check all nets for fish stuck in them when weighing in.

Max 8-pint bait limit.

STRICTLY FISHERY FEED PELLETS ONLY. (checks will be made)

No left over bait to be thrown into the pools, please use bins provided.

No casting or pole fishing more than halfway across the pool into another angler's swim.

Any angler leaving their swim must withdraw his or and her line from the water.

No handling of fish with cloths or rags.

No floating poles.

No surface fishing.

No elasticated feeders or fixed rigs.

Litter to be taken away by anglers at all times.

Half way rule applies on matches, if there is no angler on the next peg you may fish up to level with the pallet but no further.

No spectators:

Ground bait to be fed by pole cup or feeder, no balling in. No throwing of fish back into the water, lower the fish into the water from the weighing sling or net



Facilities:

Our site is safe and secure, and has CCTV surveillance. We have accessible toilet facilities and a fishing lodge where you can purchase drinks, snacks and Wrights savouries.

We have a onsite tackle and bait shop, providing a selection of tackle from hooks, rod and reels and everything in-between. We have pellet, ground bait, additives always available to suit all styles of fishing. We offer bait from one of the UK's leading suppliers Sonubait which we highly recommend.

The shop is run by experienced staff that know the fishing and tackle industry, they are only too happy to guide you in your purchases and try to help you catch more fish.
