Fishing Rules:

A maximum of two rods may be fished at any time on community based waters. Provided two Rod Licenses are held, a maximum of three rods can be used subject to the rules of the controlling Club to fish at any time, other rods may be set and not baited or in the water.

A marker rod can be used but must be removed immediately after casting baited rods.

All anglers must be in possession of a current club permit and or day ticket and must show his or her club permit or day ticket when asked by the City Council or club's representative.

Community Waters at Chell Heath, Central Forest Park, Hanley Park and Bolton Gate Pool are free to fish on an Environment Agency Rod license.

Night fishing on City Council open waters will be allowed subject to the rules of the controlling Club.

Night Fishing is not allowed at Tunstall Park, Hanley Park, Queens Park, Longton, or Central Forest Park.

No fishing at all is permitted in Burslem Park.

Age Restrictions:

Anglers under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an authorised adult.

Anglers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when night fishing, Subject Rules of the controlling Club.

The City Council cannot accept responsibility for the safety and conduct of anglers under Children remain the responsibility of their parent andd or guardian at all times.

Publicity Ban, please see controlling club rules on catches. Failure to observe may result in a ban on all city waters.



Rules below apply to all waters:

01. All anglers must be in possession of a current, valid Environment Agency Rod Licence.

02. Fishing is only permitted in the designated areas. Anyone fishing in non designated areas will be removed from the site.

03. The use of remote control boats or bait boats is not allowed.

04. No dinghies or other boats in conjunction with fishing activities shall be allowed onto the water. Unless with authority from the City Council.

05. The use of surface baits or 'live' small fish is not permitted.

06. Rods shall be attended at all times, and no rods left unattended. Persons leaving rods unattended will be required to leave the water.

07. All anglers must remove litter and discarded line from the peg - failure to cooperate will result in offenders being removed from the site.



Fishing Rules:

01. Only 'barbless' hooks may be used. Failure to observe this rule will result in removal from the site.

02. Back leads shall be used where necessary, and consideration to wildlife must be a priority at all times.

03. Fires and barbecues are not allowed on the site.

04. Anyone who appears to be under the influence of drink and or drugs shall, at the discretion of the City Council or club�s representative, be removed from the site.

05. Fish care is paramount. Landing nets are required to be used at all times. City Waters Forum request unhooking mats be used when appropriate.

06. All fish must, without exception, be returned alive to the water. The unauthorised removal of fish will be regarded as theft. The unauthorised introduction of fish is illegal.

07. No poly ball inserts to be used in pop-up baits, cork ball only.

08. No uncooked nut or seed baits will be permitted.

09. Anglers must not obstruct footpaths or restrict access for other park users. No Bivvys, tents or shelters are to be used in the following parks, Tunstall Park, Hanley Park and Queens Park.

10. When fishing for pike 12lb minimum line and 20lb wire trace must be used.

11. The City Council reserves the right to remove any person for inappropriate behaviour, for example, causing a nuisance or annoyance to other anglers or behaving in such a way which may endanger themselves or others.

12. Fishing matches are not to be held on Community Waters without written authorisation from City Waters Forum.

13. These rules have been produced in conjunction with the City Waters Forum and all information is subject to revision.

14. Not to retain or permit to be retained in a keep net or carp sack any Carp. Also any species of fish which weighs five 5 pounds in weight or over, subject to individual club match rules, and which has been taken from the Waters and ensure that all other fish that have been retained temporarily in such a net are returned to the Waters immediately after they have been weighed.

15. In the event of an emergency call 999. All anglers should report poaching and antisocial behaviour to 101.

A breach of any of the above rules will result in anglers being removed for the waters.

You will be investigated and this could result in possible prosecution and a total ban from angling on all City waters.

No memborship needed but you must have a rod licence.
