Description: Izaak Walton Fishery has 3 pools plus a competition canal and contains coarse fish.

River Sow The fishery takes its name from the famous angler and author of the `Compleat Angler`. Izaak Walton was born in Stafford in 1653 and lived in a cottage less than a mile away. It is said that Izaak Walton used to fish the river Sow that runs through the fishery.

Top Pool This is the largest pool at 1.25 acres. It has an island to fish off and a sunken island with Iris and Lillies growing from it.

It is a well stocked pool with Rudd, Roach, Tench (up to 8 lbs), Perch, Chub, Bream, Crucian, Mirror, Common Carp and Carp to 251b+.

It has a maximum depth of 10 feet and can accommodate 43 anglers on permanent pegs.

Middle Pool has a maximum depth of 7 feet and contains all of the above fish.

There are 23 permanent pegs on this pool and an island to fish too.

Bottom Pool is 1.75 acres with a central island and has all of the above fish.

This pool can accommodate up to 35 anglers. The depth ranges from 4 to 14 feet with an average depth of 8 feet.

The Canal The latest addition to the fishery which can accommodate 33 anglers and has a depth of 6 feet.

It is stocked with all the above fish and is a favourite with both the match angler and day tickets.

The banks of the canal are flat and are suitable for disabled anglers and clubs.

River Sow A day ticket allows anglers to fish approximately 500 metres of the River Sow which flows through Izaak Walton Fishery.

Fishing Rules:

All Nets to be dipped in disinfectant tank before setting up.

Plain Barbless hooks only, a maximum hook size of 10 No Pinched Barbs.

ANYONE found not dipping their nets or with Barbed hooks will be banned from the fishery.

No boilies, trout pellets or paste, Carp pellets or paste ok.

No bread from March to October.

No floating baits.

No particle baits e.g. Peanuts, tiger nuts, chick peas etc.

No floating poles. all poles must have a float. No method system.

Do not use dry cloth to hold fish.

No braided fishing line and a max line weight 10lbs.

No keep nets to be used, except during official matches.

No lines left in the water unattended.

Every person fishing must have their own landing net.

All anglers are held responsible for removing any litter and cigarette ends around their peg.

Hemp and ground bait to be used only with permission of the owner or his and or her representative.

Fishing is from marked pegs only.

No night fishing.

Additional Match Rules:

Please ensure matches finish at the agreed time Please bring 2 keepnets to your match,

Fish should be split evenly between your nets e.g. net 1 to 30lb net 2 to 30lb, NOT 50lb and 10lb. If you have over 50lb in each net please use a third net. If this is not possible then continue to split fish evenly.

All clubs should have their own public liability insurance as no claims can be made against Izaak Walton Fishery for any accident, injury or loss whilst on the site.
