Description:
Alton Water is largest Suffolk inland water located near Ipswich. The lake offers some good coarse fishing for a variety of coarse fish with Bream and Pike the most popular. Day ticket and season permits are available on site from the cafe and the Watersports Centre. Alton Water Park is open every day of the year, except Christmas Day. Site closing times are advertised at the car park entrances, usually between 9am and Dusk. |

Alton Fishing Rules:
PERMITS 1. A valid permit and Environment Agency license is required to fish at Alton Water. 2. Permits must be produced on demand to The Warden or other Officers appointed by Anglian Water or any other permit holder. FISHING AREAS 3. Fishing is only permitted in specific areas that have not been pre-booked with Anglian Water. 4. Anglers are not permitted to reserve swims in advance unless booking a Match. 5. No fishing is permitted from the Dam Wall, Draw-off Tower or Lemons Hill Bridge. 6. Access to the water and vehicle parking is only permitted via routes and parking areas provided for this purpose. GENERAL 7. Anglers must comply with Anglian Water's Byelaws. These are displayed at the Visitors Centre and at Lemons Hill Bridge. 8. Anglers must comply with instructions issued by authorised Wardens. 9. Any angler who uses foul or abusive language or threatening behaviour towards anyone else will be required to vacate the site immediately and will have their permit cancelled. 10.Anglers must remove ALL litter from their pegs and take it home. 11.No open fires are permitted. 12.No radios, cassette players or other broadcasting equipment may be used. 13.Any angler breaking these Rules or causing a nuisance will be required to vacate the site. 14.Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. ANGLING METHODS 15.Fishing is prohibited during the hours of darkness. 16.A maximum of three rods and lines are permitted but must not occupy more than 3 metres of bank. (Anglers must be in possession of the required number of permits Please note: one season permit is valid for 2 rods only.) 17.Rods must not be left unattended at any time. 18.Moderate ground baiting is permitted only while fishing. 19.Live fish, particle baits (excluding sweetcorn and hemp) and general livestock feeds are prohibited. 20.No boats are permitted. FISH CONSERVATION 21.No fish may be taken away or brought to Alton Water, except dead sea fish to be used as bait. 22.Fish must not be retained in keep nets for more than 6 hours. 23.An unhooking mat must be used for all large fish. 24.Wire traces are compulsory when pike fishing and the use of pike gags is prohibited. |

The Stutton car park at Alton Water Park is close to all the attractions and facilities. Car parking charges apply - annual car parking permits are also available and are valid for all Water Park car parks and can be purchased from the cafe. |
