Description:Ackton Pond is a popular one-lake pond in Yorkshire, not far from the town of Pontefract. It provides many opportunities for capturing good sized fish. Tench up to ten pounds and carp up to twenty pounds are planted in the pond. The majority of the catches are little silver fish under 1lb. Although not the most rewarding lake to fish, this is an entertaining lake to fish. Ackton Pond is a popular destination for family outings and learning to fish. The lake is surrounded by 24 pegs in a bigger park complex, and it may become busy. Note that Wednesday and Sunday are reserved for matches, so day ticket anglers should choose another day. In the summer, nighttime matches are held on the same days. Ackton Pond has produced carp in excess of two pounds and tench typically weigh in at approximately ten pounds. Silver fish weighing 4 to 6 oz are the most frequent capture.

Ackton Angling Club Rules: All anglers must possess a current yearly yorkshire fishing license. No keepnets allowed. Fish with one rod only. No fish to be removed from pond. Vehicles to be parked on the car park only. Leave no litter. Only members allowed to night fish. Barbless hooks only. Matches every Wednesday, Drawn at 9am and Finish AT 3pm. Sunday matches will take place every other week. No pet food of any kind. No seafood to be used on this pond. Maximum hook size 10. Petes Tackle Spring green nursery All anglers must keep inside pond boundaries and on no account go into or throw anything into fields beyond. Any anglers breaking these rules will be banned. Anyone removing fish from this pond or doing damage will be banned. Day Tickets: £5.00 Match Sunday Seed bait and ground bait to be used moderately. No boilies or jokers. No children under 14 unless accompanied by a adult. No dogs on footpath arouna the pond.
