Norfolk Fishing Network 2004 - 2024 - Pole Tapping

Pole tapping is helpful in making fish believe that you are baiting the swim up with bait. There are a several ways in which you can do this. The first being just laying the pole on the water surface to the point where you are baiting, and just moving the pole up and down so that the pole tip splashes on the water making noise and concentric ripples. The next is by using a bait cup that can attach to the end of the pole for baiting. The other thing I have tried is just letting the pole float on the water surface and just knock on the butt of the pole it will send vibrations out all over the place and you will here Carp knocking into the pole when they are looking about for the bait.

At some fisheries and Matches you are forbidden to use this tactic as it can give an unfair advantage, so if your unsure ask.
